Hollywood

Thinking Hollywood and Beret, the first images that come to mind are likely of Carole Lombard, John Wayne, Greta Garbo or Groucho Marx.
All boinero/as indeed, but all wearing the same black beret (okay, John Wayne excepted...).
However, if one wanted to, one can celebrate Hollywood in a very way by wearing a 'Hollywood Beret' by Piers Atkinson.
Piers Atkinson's designs are at the cutting edge of fashionable millinery. He has dressed Rihanna, Paloma Faith and members of the Royal Family in his elaborate and stylish couture hats and bespoke headpieces for concerts, festivals and weddings.

Vintage Uniforms of the 120e Bataillon de Chasseurs à Pied

The 120e Bataillon de Chasseurs à Pied (120th Hunters on Foot) was a battalion created during the Great War (1915, Sennecey-le-Grand) and abolished shortly after the war (1919).
The battalion's number, the hunting horn and the two soutaches are green.
Three young recruits from the 27th and 120th Chasseurs, supervised by two older Chasseurs of the 120th BCP.
Telegraphist of the 120th BCP, wearing the embroidered hunting horn on the tarte.

The Uniforms of the First Chasseurs Alpins, 1888-1891

As most followers of this blog will know, the Chasseurs Alpins were the first military units to adopt the beret as part of their uniform. However famous their large berets ("tartes") may be, there is actual not much visual evidence of these early berets.
This photo of a Chasseur of the 28th BACP is dated 1891. The Dolman tunic and hooded collar is the 1891 model and must be brand new. The embroidered badge on his tarte is a hunting horn, accompanied  by an Edelweiss badge.
This photo seems to be a Chasseur of the 11th BCA. He wears the hooded collar (originally from the Parisian firefighters, 1850 model). The tunic is the 1867 model, with red or green piping on the cuffs.

SpyTime #1

Faithful followers of this blog know all too well about the Spy Files; the sneakily shot photographs by my brother Emile (The Beret Spy).
Alas, The Beret Spy has found some competition in my friend Boris. Working at the MORE Art Museum, Boris is in a rather unique position to meet many fellow boineros/as.
Today, a small selection of the huge collection he sent me. To be continued over the following days.
Thanks Boris!
