Belgian copper smith Charles Bresous (1899 - 1964) was the son of a gifted decorative artist. He devoted his entire life to his noble craftsmanship; with enthusiasm and tough persistence he forced the brass plate to say what he himself had to say.
His achievements were therefore frequently recognized: he was Knight in the Order of the Crown with palms, Knight in the Order of Leopold II and received the gold medal of honor at the World Exhibition 1958. His work has found a place in dozens of exhibitions, both at home and abroad; it can be found in several public and ecclesiastical buildings, including Bruges, St. Michiels and Kortrijk.
On the day of his death, he declared, "We are not great masters. There is only One who is Master over everything. We will always be students. "
