Aloysius Maria (Louis) van Roode (1914 - 1964) was a Dutch sculptor, graphic artist and painter.
Van Roode studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. Before the Second World War he mainly worked as a graphic artist and advertising draftsman.
After the war, Van Roode was, like many visual artists, involved in various reconstruction projects in Rotterdam. His collaboration with architects Evert and Herman Kraaijvanger earned him several commissions for monumental decorations on buildings, such as the mosaic on the Holbeinhuis and the abstract work on the Stationspost building in Rotterdam.
In 1951, Van Roode founded the artists' group 'Argus' with, among others, Huib Noorlander, Kees French, Jan Goedhart and Charles Kemper. In the 1950s, together with Gust Romijn and Piet Roovers, he belonged to the 'Window Group', consisting of young Rotterdam graphic artists. In later life he was mainly concerned with abstract painting.
