Guy Thomas (1957) is a self-taught painter from south
Bretagne (France), but now based in Paris.
Drawing the male figure and doing full body portrait
–capturing the essence of a particular moment– has been at the center of Thomas’
life and feelings. When he was young, he was attracted to the strange strength
emanating from the old masters portraits. The intimacy of these tender moments
expressed frankly and without guise was extremely powerful. This simple essence
of life is what drove him to portraiture.
Later he found himself drawing rounded anatomy, sexy and
charming figures. Sensuality is very essential to his work; since his teenage
years, Thomas never stopped drawing what he loves most: big, strong, full
bodies, hairy with rough or smiling bearded faces.
