Martinus (Martien) Beversluis (1894 –1966) was a Dutch poet and novelist . He also used the pseudonyms Silvius Berckhout, Reinier Bloemert, Thea de Born, MB Versluis, Huib Wouters, Rob Altena.
Before the Second World War he was successively a socialist,
communist and young protestant. In October 1940 he became a member of Anton
Mussert 's National Socialist Movement (NSB) and in 1942 of the Dutch SS.
After the war he was interned. In 1947 he was released on
medical and psychiatric grounds and acquitted of prosecution. During the Press
Purge he was banned from practicing journalism for a period of twenty years.
The Honorary Council for Literature initially decided that he lost the right to
publish for ten years. On appeal the sentence was reduced to three years. After
the war he published several more poetry collections and plays.
