Kafé Utza

In the dusty Badlands of Eastern Montana sits the little ranch town of Miles City. It's the last place one would expect to find a Basque inspired coffee shop.
The name, Kafé Utza, is the Basque translation of the term "Black Coffee”.
The owner felt that her home town, if given the chance, would respond well to the fine pastry and fresh roasted small batch coffee found in the Basque region of France.

  1. Seeing this post here has made my day. I designed this logo. During the process, I spent months and months researching berets. It took many hours and hundreds of sketches to finally get the beret to look right. One of the biggest breakthroughs I had was finding this site. It was deep well of visual and historical references that I returned to often. To see the logo end up here is quite a nice surprise.

  2. I agree heartily that this blog is a deep well of visual and historical references. I have learned so much about berets from this blog, not only their history but also how men have and do wear them, and importantly what kind of people wear a beret.
