What do mohair berets have in common with fascism? The
avant-garde artistic movement, Futurism, has a lot in common with

Alka Nauman is a queer interdisciplinary artist who works in dance, visual arts and theatre. She creates performances, installations, videos and dance events.
Alka Nauman: "In Poland, the fluffy mohair beret is typically worn by older women who identify with the Catholic far right, and are active supporters of the Polish fascist government. The mohair beret — fluffy, delicate, warm, funny, soft, sensual — is in a way very queer. It is a memorial evocation, both of the house, of the hearth, but also of violence".
"I perform my practice, consisting in discovering the materiality of a mohair beret. I dance in the direction of mohair and I try to reveal its symbolic complexity".
