Female Gauchos

Like that common "wisdom" that only old men wear berets, there are many who believe that being a gaucho is a male privilege only.

And similar to the age factor, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Women have always played an active role in gaucho culture; a minority role, but certainly present.

And whereas gaucho culture has taken its place in the world of fashion (and women [and men] dressing up accordingly) 

many women have their place on horseback on the pampas.

And yes, always with a beret!
