Mozes Cohen's work consists of landscapes and scenes from daily life, as well as portraits of his family life.
His partner Truus Bessems was the model for many paintings.
During the German occupation it was made impossible for Cohen to exhibit and sell his work any longer. Because he was in danger of becoming breadless, he became an art teacher at the Jewish high school. In 1942 he tried to flee, but on his way to Switzerland he was arrested and deported to Auschwitz via the French transit camp Drancy, where he was murdered on 7 November 1942.
