Lucien Gachon, an Auvergnat, peasant, teacher then
professor, geographer and writer. He co-wrote, with Henri Pourrat, this sublime
sentence about Auvergne: “In the beginning God created Auvergne and then
nothing, nothing, nothing and then all the rest of the world. »Born in 1894 in
the domain of La Guillerie located near the Chapelle-Agnon in the Puy de Dôme,
he is the author, among other things, of the magnificent novel Maria which came
close to the Goncourt prize in 1925.
