Ezcaray, in La Rioja, Spain, has historically been a major
center for the production of berets and related textile products. During the
1930s, more than four million berets were manufactured annually in Ezcaray and
the nearby town of Pradoluengo, according to historian Diego Ochogavía.
In 1912, the company "Viuda González Raboyoye" was registered in Ezcaray as a manufacturer of berets and baize cloths, according to commercial documents from the time.
The textile tradition of Ezcaray has its origins in medieval times, and during the 20th century, the town housed several textile and beret factories, such as the URRI SA beret and knitwear factory, which was owned by Mr. Arcadio Alesanco.
