New: Boinas Exposición Super Lujo31cm

The boinas Super Lujo 31cm in tūī-green and charcoal-grey are the latest additions to our range of exclusive custom made berets from the Spanish Basque Country. 

The tūī shade of green is a very deep, dark green; outside natural light it can almost appear to be black. The name comes from the native New Zealand bird, whose feathers possess exactly this colour. 

The charcoal-grey is numerous shades darker from the anthracite grey of the Super Lujo 29 and 31.5cm models. Both are superb berets, especially suited for those with head-sizes 58 and over.

New and Exclusive Range of Txapeldunaks!

South Pacific Berets has expanded its range of (custom, handmade) ‘txapeldunak’.

The txapeldun is the quintessential Basque beret, the most perfect embodiment of a tradition that goes back centuries, a symbol for champions (in the Basque Country the txapeldun is used as a trophy in competitions of sports and the brain), the ultimate protection from sun, rain and snow for the Basque shepherds in the Pyrenees mountains, a hat widely adopted by artists with a reminiscence of the Renaissance and generally, a fantastic beret to wear.

South Pacific Berets stocks two sizes of txapeldunak, the 15 pulgada and the very-very large diameter in 16 pulgada (which equals 34.9cm and 37.2cm in the metric system and 13.7" and 14.6" in US inches, respectively), in Black and Navy.

South Pacific Berets also has an exclusive line of custom-made colours: Azul-Blue, Saviem-blue (cobalt), Crudo (off-white), Colorado (Spanish red), Granate (Bordeaux) and Khaki.

It takes a bit of courage to wear a txapeldun, but once you do - you won't want anything smaller. Most customers buying our txapeldunak find it an excellent hat for hiking and tramping, offering the best possible protection from any weather and still easy to roll up and fit in a daypack or pocket.

Eddie Cantor

Eddie Cantor (born Edward Israel Itzkowitz, 1892 –1964) was an American "illustrated song" performer, comedian, dancer, singer, actor, and songwriter.

Familiar to Broadway, radio, movie, and early television audiences, this "Apostle of Pep" was regarded almost as a family member by millions because his top-rated radio shows revealed intimate stories and amusing anecdotes about his wife Ida and five daughters.

His eye-rolling song-and-dance routines eventually led to his nickname, "Banjo Eyes". In 1933, artist Frederick J. Garner caricatured Cantor with large round eyes resembling the drum-like pot of a banjo. Cantor's eyes became his trademark, often exaggerated in illustrations, and leading to his appearance on Broadway in the musical Banjo Eyes (1941).

His charity and humanitarian work were extensive, and he is credited with coining the phrase, and helping to develop the March of Dimes.

Manpower

Manpower is a 1941 film noir directed by Raoul Walsh and starring Edward G. Robinson, Marlene Dietrich, and George Raft.

A leg injury causes Los Angeles power line worker Hank McHenry to give up field work and accept a promotion to foreman. His crew includes good friend Johnny Marshall and old Pop Duval.

Pop is killed during an ice storm. His daughter Fay's to this seeming indifference irritates Johnny, but Hank is attracted to her. A hostess in a nightclub, Fay accepts money from Hank and also his marriage proposal, even though she does not love him.

Before a project that takes them to Boulder Dam, an injury befalls Johnny. He is taken into Hank's home to recuperate where, after a month together, Fay tells him she is attracted to him but Johnny resists her. Fay decides to leave Hank, but she is arrested in a raid while she is visiting her old club. Johnny pays her bail and stops her leaving Hank. However, she tells Hank that she is leaving him and is attracted to Johnny and a combination of circumstances means that Hank misconstrues the situation, believing Johnny has betrayed him.

In wet and windy weather, Hank climbs a pylon with his bad leg to attack Johnny, during which Hank falls to his death. Johnny is left to decide whether he is attracted to Fay or repelled by her.

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta (1975) is an Indian film actress and entrepreneur.

She has appeared in Hindi films of Bollywood, as well as Telugu, Punjabi, and English language films. After graduating with degrees in English honours and criminal psychology, Zinta made her acting debut in Dil Se.. in 1998, followed by a role in Soldier in the same year.

These performances earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, and she was later recognised for her role as a teenaged single mother in Kya Kehna (2000). 

She subsequently established a career with a variety of character types; her film roles along with her screen persona have been credited with contributing to a change in the concept of a Hindi film heroine and won her several accolades.
