The Whole Nine Yards is a 2000 American crime comedy film
directed by Jonathan. It stars Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet,
Michael Clarke Duncan, and Natasha Henstridge.
Its story follows a mild-mannered dentist as he travels to
Chicago to inform a mob boss about the whereabouts of his new neighbor, a
former hitman with a price on his head.
The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $106 million. A sequel, The Whole Ten Yards, was released in 2004.
"Quick Question: What Car Was Most Like A Beret In The Sense That It Works Well In Incredibly Different Contexts?"
I came upon this question via car site The Autopian, where Jason Torchinsky poses the question. After some uninformed and rather dumb assumptions about the beret, I quote Jason: "The breadth of identity a beret is capable of adapting to is remarkable, but, like all interesting thoughts, it’s bullshit until applied to automobiles, so let’s do that. Name a car that enjoys a similar degree of acceptance across such a huge cultural and utilitarian spectrum? In short, what car is a beret?"
Jason finds the Jeep Wrangler the beret's equivalent; I personally would choose the Citroen DeuxChevaux.
Sir Philip Nicholas Outram Pullman (1946) is an English writer.
His books include the fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials and
The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ, a fictionalised biography of
Jesus.
In 2008, The Times named Pullman one of the "50 greatest British writers since 1945". In a 2004 BBC poll, he was named the eleventh most influential person in British culture. He was knighted in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to literature.
Maija Einfelde (1939) is a Latvian composer.
Einfelde was born in Valmiera, Latvia, and began her music studies with her mother who was a church organist. She continued her education at the Conservatoire of Latvia in 1966, studying composition with Jānis Ivanovs.
After graduating, she has taught music theory and composition. She has one son, the writer Jānis Einfelds.
Einfelde's works have been performed internationally, including performances by the MDR Rundfunkchor at the Berliner Philharmonie, Brigham Young University Choir, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, the Kansas City Chorale in USA, the Radio Choir of the Netherlands, and at Carnegie Hall, New York City.

Given the enormous treasure trove of (very early) beret photographs (and glass plates) by Costică Acsinte, a new post seems more than justified.
Costică Acsinte (born Constantin Axinte) was a Romanian photographer.
He fought in WWI; despite he studied to be a pilot, he was
an official war photographer until 15 June 1920. Soon after the war was over,
he opened a studio — "Foto Splendid C. Acsinte" in Slobozia town.
Acsinte made about 5.000 film negatives on glass plates, a smaller number of sheet film negatives and an unknown number of photographic prints.
Given the number of berets in his photos, you'd think that all Romanians were boineros/as in those days...
Andres Mustonen (1953) is an Estonian conductor and violinist.
Mustonen graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory and later studied in Austria and the Netherlands and then became a music specialist in his native Estonia and overseas.
When he became a conductor he played in such orchestras as
Riga's chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Riga and Moscow-based Tchaikovsky Symphony
Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and Russian National Orchestra.
Nikolai Dabov (1936) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts “N. Pavlovich”- Sofia in 1963 and is known for his still life and landscape paintings.
Since 1963, Dabov takes part in national exhibitions, organizes one-man shows in Sofia, Pleven, Lovech and participates in exhibitions of Bulgarian art in Europe, Japan, Russia, and the Middle East.
Dabov is the winner of the Order St. Cyril and Methodius. Member of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists. Live and work in Pleven.
Guillem Viladot (1922 – 1999) was a Catalan writer and visual poet.
His work, created on the margins of literary circles, revolts against any form of authority, both institutional and interiorized, and often questions and crosses the boundaries of genre. A pharmacologist by training, he began writing novels in the late 1950s and at the same time, following his 1959 ‘Metaplasms’ and 1960 LA-URT, became a forerunner of the Concrete Poets.

He nursed a growing interest in psychoanalysis from the 1970s onwards, which became evident both in his novels and his poetry, including the posthumous collection Ruth (2000). In the nineties, he opened ‘Lo Pardal’, a space for visual poetry, which later became a museum dedicated to his memory. He was an honorary member of the Association of Catalan Language Writers and, in 1993, received the Cruz de Sant Jordi.

Jordanian - Palestinian, Khalid Abdel-Hadi is an artist, curator, and activist, and founder of My Kali Magazine, a conceptual, queer/feminist/intersectional webzine launched in 2007.
Khalid has graduated from several regional and international programs including the Swedish Institute’s Young Leaders Visitors Program (2014), took part in the Human Rights Watch "No Longer Alone" campaign, was listed on Guardian’s LGBT Change Makers of 2017, and has been featured by many artists, journalists and documentaries internationally.
Currently, Khalid is the Editor-in-Chief and the Creative Director of My Kali, and is working to raise awareness and visibility towards the issues and victories of the regional queer and feminist community.
Vision Street Wear is an American apparel company focused on BMX and skateboarding.
Started in 1976 by Brad Dorfman, the company sponsored early skateboarding greats such as Mark 'Gator' Rogowski and Mark Gonzales.
Although the company is mostly known for its skateboards, in the 1980’s it brought out a range of berets.
These days the Vision Street berets cost small fortunes on collector’s sites and auctions.
